0.5cupwalnuts or pecans, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
Begin by rinsing the fresh cranberries thoroughly under cold running water. Carefully inspect and remove any stems or blemished berries to ensure a smooth sauce.
In a medium-sized saucepan, mix together the rinsed cranberries, granulated sugar, fresh orange juice, orange zest, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and fine sea salt. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until it begins to simmer gently.
Once the sauce reaches a simmer, let it cook for an additional 10-15 minutes. During this time, the cranberries will burst open, and the sauce will thicken. Be sure to stir occasionally to avoid any sticking to the bottom of the pan.
If you're including nuts, fold the finely chopped walnuts or pecans into the sauce during the last 3-5 minutes of cooking. This will impart a delightful crunchy texture to the bliss sauce.
After cooking, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the sauce to cool to room temperature.
Once cooled, transfer the cranberry bliss sauce to a decorative serving dish or an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and to serve chilled.
Notes
Serve in a decorative bowl and garnish with whole cranberries and fresh mint for a festive touch.
